Through collaborative discussions and prompts, participants will engage in a monthly online book study of rural schools based upon lived experiences from two diverse southern towns. Aligned to OCTM's mission, vision, and core values and principles, the study will provide participants opportunities to grow as mathematics educators by reflecting on diversity and equity in both the rural districts portrayed in the reading, and in their own classroom and community. Moreover, this study examines the kinds of research used to illuminate rural issues, which may inspire teachers to ask questions about their own practice and seek answers.
Find out more about the book at this link. Each participant should obtain the book on their own.
